Gilmore Girls: 6.21 Driving Miss Gilmore
And again, dear Amy Sherman-Palladino, I ask why oh why could you just have not let Logan die after stupidly jumping off a cliff. What does Rory see in this kid? Kill him off and send her into the waiting arms of the currently not-screwed-up Jess or the lovable yet sadly not seen anymore Marty. Jess or Marty! I don't ask much. But what does Logan have that either of these doesn't besides his trust fund and 'gee let's see if I can permanently injure myself' attitude?? And if Rory makes some stupid decision next week I may, well, I may just have to punch my hand through the television and smack some sense into her.
Although on the sense front, she's not doing much better than Lorelai. Stop with the passive agression towards Luke! Find the balls and tell him that all of this is crap (don't even get me started on the whole April debaucle that is surely no more than one of those ideas tossed around when someone was drunk and they decided 'hey, what the hell, let's give him a long lost daughter'). And yes, I know that the promo for next week gave us an indication that she will indeed find the words to say this, but I've learned not to trust promos so I'm still going to wait and see if she does go through with it. Tell him how you feel! Tell him this waiting thing is crap! Tell him you're worth more than his indecision!
And see, if the Palladino's had written good Lorelai and Luke we wouldn't even be HAVING this discussion.
On the plus side, how much do I love Sookie and Jackson with their 48 lbs of pot? *lol* That was an adorable little side story, and we just don't get enough Sookie these days. She's absolutely delightful.
And Emily. I don't care what anyone says, I love Emily. I love her meddling, and her assumptions, and her drama and she just such a fantastic character (and Kelly Bishop has my undying love - why has this woman not been nommed for an Emmy yet?) that I can't help but love every time she's on screen. And her attempting to buy Luke and Lorelai a house was just such a warm moment, even for Gilmore family sensibilities. I mean, she cares. She really does. And I think she's gotten better (not good yet, but getting there) about showing it. Although, better from horrible makes for good television.
Palladinos, please don't disappoint this long time fan with a crappy last ep you write. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy in this world - don't let the season finale suck. Because we don't know what version of GG we'll get next year without you (even though I seriously have to question your sanity about some of the recent storylines - Rory and Lorelai fight lasted how long?) and I'm so afraid that it'll pull a West Wing. When Sorkin (bow to the almighty Sorkin) left at Season 4 it was incredible. When Wells took over Season 5... well, we WW fans know how too bad for words that was. Be a Sorkin, not a Wells. Don't suck. And who's ever in charge next season, same applies. Don't suck.

Date: 2006-05-03 02:11 pm (UTC)this is the reason i let my mom give me summaries of the eps and i don't bother trying to find a tv on tuesday nights anymore. soooooooooooo frustrating.

Date: 2006-05-04 02:10 am (UTC)And as I think more about it, I'm kinda happy that the Palladino's are leaving because the last two seasons (what with the Lorelai/Rory fight that would NEVER END and the Lorelai/Luka passive agressive fight that will NEVER END) have so not lived up to their other seasons. Maybe fresh blood will make them write these characters right again.
One can hope. *stabs at Logan for good measure anyway*

Date: 2006-05-04 09:33 pm (UTC)And yes, the whole Luke's daughter storyline is stupid. It's one of those things where writers think that a show has to get boring if the main character is happy and in love, so they have to create drama to keep them apart.
And yes, Emily! My favorite Emily moment is when Lorelai called her and didn't say anything right away and she chewed her out, thinking she was an obscene caller, and then chewed her out with 'well, you're not even a very good obscene caller at that!' LOL.

Date: 2006-05-07 11:32 pm (UTC)Seriously, the show's been on the air how many years, and now suddenly Luke has a daughter? I would think he would have known by now.
Ha. Maybe he'll demand a paternity test and then she'll turn out to be just after his 'money.' *snort*

Date: 2006-05-07 11:50 pm (UTC)And April will get nothing but a kick in the pants... and on the subject of April, if she's such an uber!geek, how does she have that many friends?? I mean, that was a lot of girls at her b-day party.

Date: 2006-05-11 05:42 pm (UTC)And LOL. That's a good point... *I* don't even have that many friends!
But maybe it was just one of those deals where she invited everyone in her class or something? Of course, the question is why they would all show up if she was such a geek.
Hm. Gotta love inconsistencies in writing, eh?
